Trucking Companies in Nevada
Nevada has a reputation among local trucking companies and other drivers as having some of the best highways in the United States. Despite this, and the size of the county, there are some freight-movement bottlenecks here, with very little crossover between the North-South and East-West Routes.
That certainly hasn’t held back the trucking industry here. Over 3,000 trucking companies employ over 50,000 people, and there’s a driver shortage here with a further 40,000+ unfilled jobs looking for the perfect truck driver to fill them. This makes the state a great place to find a truck driving job, especially if you’re looking to break into long-distance trucking.

A motor carrier is anyone responsible for the leasing, management, or operation of a commercial vehicle. It does not matter whether it is passenger or freight.
Nevada is a non-participatory state, but fleets registered here will still need to register for a Unified Carrier number elsewhere, and still need to comply with all legislation. You can find out more about this here.
You have to start from DMV and you can learn more about the processes and procedures here.
Once you have registered as a business, you will need your USDOT and MC Carrier authority from the FMCSA.
Trucking Company Registration Costs in Nevada
What registration costs are faced by the firms on our list of trucking companies in Nevada? Let’s take a closer look.
The starting place for anyone wanting to open a local trucking company is, of course, to create a registered business. It’s super-cheap to form an LLC or incorporate in Nevada ($75), although both carry annual reporting needs of around $325.
With that out the way, it’s time to head to the FMCSA. Here you will get your USDOT and MC Carrier number ($500). Nevada does not participate in the unified carrier program ($70+, depending on state chosen), yet all fleets registered here are required to be compliant with the legislation. This means you will have to register through another state, at a cost of $70 for 2 trucks, rising depending on location and fleet size. You can find out more about this on their motor carrier portal. Here they also detail the temporary and permanent permits you may need.
You will file a BOC-3 permit if you will be operating in several states. You can do this free by yourself, or you can pay a small fee ($15-$50) to have a service do it for you. Lastly, your IRP ($500-$3000) and IFTA ($150 every 3 months) must be dealt with.
Insurance Costs for Nevada Trucking Companies
The companies on our Nevada trucking companies list face insurance costs that can vary wildly. Expect to pay anything from $10,600- $16,900 for the average tractor-trailer. While that’s a broader range than we see in other states, it’s also pretty close to the national average for the most part.

reviewed SUPERIOR VANLINES INC
Superior moved me in Jan 2021. First they gave me a quote for a 2bedroom apt and when they came to move me they charged me double. They totally destroyed my headboard at the apartment, then when I received my stuff my queen size pillowtop mattress and box spring was not on the truck. When I started opening my boxes numerous items such as a kitchen aid stand mixer, ninja air fryer, and other items were missing. My wine rack was destroyed along with my cake plate, and other queen size headboard and dresser. I had to pay for the first headboard that was destroyed at the apartment so that they could send someone out to assess the damages which never happened. I had over 4,000 worth of items missing or destroyed. They offered me 311.00 to settle and then skipped out of paying me at all. I still have not received one dime and it is going on a year. Please do not do business with these crooks!!!!!! They are thieves.
